The Muse

At 301 S. 19th Street, an Egyptian Revival style building towers above the idyllic Rittenhouse neighborhood in Center City Philadelphia. Known in a past life as the Townhouse, this historic landmark needed a refresh to align with current-day Philadelphia. The development team knew they wanted to honor the legacy of the building while appealing to a new generation of Philadelphians, and came to us for an experience that could do

that very thing. We let the city be our muse.

Finding our muse.

Perched atop this residential tower is a mascaron of a warrior woman. Overlooking the city, she became our muse for the building and brand, a symbol of its past with an eye toward the future.

The art of living.

We let the creative inspiration that innately comes from living in a bustling city guide the brand language and design features. With water brush illustrations, classical type, and a hand drawn monogram round out the system.

Classically trained.

We developed a layout system where copy and content use the classic composition of symmetry, with type details in the corners to “stretch the canvas” of the page. We also wanted to keep the layouts simple so that hand-off to the client could be easy and seamless.

Live inspired.

Throughout this project, every detail of the brand and living experience had been thoughtfully curated. From custom room signs to personalized welcome kits and everything in between, no element was too small to reflect the creativity of this beautiful building and neighborhood.
